Celebrity chef Rosebud Benitez shares these nutritious recipes to fellow mothers in a recent Operation Blessing (OB) feeding program for undernourished children in Payatas, Quezon City.
Chef Rosebud’s culinary demo became an opportunity for mothers to learn new dishes that are very healthy and affordable like camote buchi, veggie omelette, and veggie meatballs with sweet and sour sauce. She also emphasized to them how to encourage kids to eat their veggies by preparing meals that they will surely enjoy.
Afterwards, Chef Rosebud had a chat with the mothers. One of them, Emily, shared how raising six children with her husband’s daily earnings of under 300 pesos is almost an impossible situation.
Emily’s meager family income is clearly not enough to buy food or vitamin supplements for her kids. This is why her daughter Marian became underweight and undernourished.
But today, Marian is now a healthy, happy girl after Operation Blessing took her under the care of their Bless-a-Child program, where preschoolers are provided free nutritious meals, as well as monthly medical checkups and education scholarships.
Emily and other parents benefit, too, from Bless-a-Child as OB offers them parenting and financial seminars, skills training, health lectures, and even livelihood assistance for deserving families.
“My husband’s income is really not enough for our everyday needs, so I really thank God and Operation Blessing. It was really a big help!” Emily exclaimed.
Chef Rosebud was inspired to hear Emily’s success story with OB, prompting her to invite more partners for Operation Blessing’s mission to improve lives of many impoverished families.
“I encourage everyone to help, whether you are a celebrity or not. By reaching out, you can bring hope to people who are in need,” she said.
