Shalani Soledad and Roman Romulo are Paris-Bound to Spend Their Honeymoon

Shalani Soledad and Roman Romulo, the newlywed power couple, are off to Paris today to spend their honeymoon.

Soledad and Romulo tied the knot last Sunday, January 22, in a simple and solemn wedding ceremony at the St. Benedict Church in Ayala Westgrove Heights in Silang, Cavite.

The wedding was attended by renowned political, business, and showbiz personalities.

The 44-year-old former Foreign Affairs Secretary (Romulo) met the 31-year-old Valenzuela City Councilor and Wil Time Bigtime co-host (Soledad) during the Valenzuela Day celebrations last July 11, 2011.

Two months after they met, September 14 to be exact, Romulo announced to the media that he and Shalani were engaged to be married.

The power couple is now bound to Paris, France, to spend their honeymoon.

Shalani Soledad is Now Mrs. Roman Romulo

Shalani Soledad tied the knot today, January 22, 2012, with Pasig representative Roman Romulo at the St. Benedict Church in Ayala Westgrove, Silang, Cavite.

Shalani Soledad became Mrs. Roman Romulo officially at around 6:45 pm today.

Renowned personalities from showbiz and politics witnessed the simple wedding ceremony in Cavite and they are now at the wedding reception which is currently being held at the Evoliving Center Dockside in Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Present at the Romulo-Soledad Nuptial were Richard Gomez and wife Lucy Torres-Gomez, Marco Alcaraz, Lara Quigaman, Valerie Concepcion, Mariel Rodriguez, TV5 bosses Bobby Barreiro and Jude Sta. Ana, Karen Davila, Valenzuela Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian and Ronald Singson.

Among the principal sponsors were Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson, Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Albert del Rosario, former House Representative Cynthia Villar, TV5 Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, businessmen Ramon Ang and Ben Chan.

It’s interesting to note that Shalani’s ex-boyfriend, President Noynoy Aquino, and Willie Revillame who was being linked to her when she started co-hosting the defunct “Willing Willie” and now “Wil Time Bigtime,” were not present during the wedding. Both P-Noy and Willie were invited by Shalani and Roman.

Shalani Soledad, together with her future husband Pasig City Representative Roman Romulo, told the press that they invited President Noynoy Aquino to their wedding this January 22. President Aquino (P-Noy) is Shalani Soledad’s ex-boyfriend.

Rep. Romulo said they would understand if the President won’t be able to attend their wedding.

“Although we understand that he is a very busy person kasi presidente siya, hopeful kami na makarating din siya,” Rep. Romulo quoted as saying.

President Noynoy Aquino, on the other hand, wished her former girlfriend to have a “strong and united” family.

“Our emphasis is always to strengthen a family. We believe a lot of the solutions to the problems in the country will be best addressed by a family that is strong, united, and strengthening and caring for the children that they bring into this world. We hope that this will be what the union of Roman and Shalani will be able to achieve,” he said in an ambush interview on Wednesday during the inauguration of a call center in SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

As for the question of he will attend the wedding, the President said it will depend on his schedule during that day.

The Romulo-Soledad Nuptial will be held at the St. Benedict Church in Silang, Cavite with around 400 guests expected to attend.

This is because the couple was advised by a Feng Shui expert who recommended that they hold their wedding earlier than the month of February 2012 as it will bring good luck.

Showbiz columnist Ricky Lo confirmed this news via his Funfare column on Philippine Star:

“Instead of February 2012 as reported in a scoop in the Life section of (The Philippine Star), the wedding of Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad and Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo has been reset to January 22, 2012 upon the advice of a feng shui expert.”

The wedding is set to take place in either Tagaytay City or Alfonso, Cavite.

Inno Sotto is said to be the one who will design the bridal gown.

Other details for the wedding will be announced by Shalani Soledad herself in “Wil Time Big Time” one of these days.

Wil Time Bigtime 1st Anniversary – Shalani Performs 1st Song & Dance Number of Her Career

The first anniversary of TV5′s Wil Time Bigtime last weekend was very successful which was attended by more than 13,000 people at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

One highlight of the celebration was when Shalani Soledad performed a song and dance number–Beyonce‘s “Crazy in Love”–which garnered the loudest cheers from the crowd.
